Argentina Bans Football Fans from Attending Matches

Buenos Aires, December 10 (NA) – The Ministry of Security has imposed a 48-month administrative ban on attending any sporting event in the country on two individuals identified as fans of Club Atlético Atlanta. This measure follows an incident involving theft and injuries, motivated by a football rivalry. The ban applies to Gastón Nicolás Lutzky and Martín Federico Lutzky, who were identified as the aggressors of two people on November 14 on Ramírez de Velazco Street in Buenos Aires. One of the victims was wearing a Chacarita de Paraguay jersey. According to the Argentine News Agency, the assaults and the theft of the jersey were motivated by sporting rivalry, as the attackers identify with the fanbase of the Villa Crespo club. The resolution, signed by Minister Alejandra Monteoliva, was issued in line with a similar measure adopted by the Buenos Aires City Government. The sanctioned individuals have been incorporated into the 'Safe Stands' program. The prohibition is effective from its publication in the Official Gazette and is based on Decree 246/17, which regulates the Sports Law and authorizes the Ministry of Security to design restrictive measures for attending football matches.
